The Fight over Faith

I was watching the CNN Presents program "The Fight over Faith," which tells the story of the rise of Evangelical Christianity in the United States. A little girl (perhaps 9 years old), when asked what happens to people who never come to accept Jesus, answers with no hesitation: "You go to hell."

The same little girl claims to have been "born again" at age 3. When asked whether it's reasonable to expect a 3-year-old to understand the decision to accept Christ, she answers: "All you have to understand is that you're a sinner and you need Jesus". In a final demonstration of her fine Christian upbringing, she explains her need for salvation: "Jesus died because of my sins. I killed him."
